Arts in Action 5K (Valley Park-Hurricane, WV)--1st Place--16:22

Glad to support a very well organized event by friend Craig Swisher. He warned me this course is pretty challenging and after racing it I agree! The combo of course and only being 3 weeks post MB Marathon had me wondering about current fitness. Based off multiple thoughts from others of 20-40second difference comparing this course to other area courses makes sense. I thought 15:40 tops today and I sort of feel like I was in that 15:40-50 effort range. Good starting point to work with towards getting to the 5K sub 15 goal!

Course breakdown...Mile 1: rolling but net decline, Mile: 2 starts with a couple steep short hills and then net incline road back to park, Mile 3 flat into slower running trail surface (up and down and sharp turns). Great workout or tempo course! Fun course to race, I want to go back when in tip top shape and try to get into the 15's on it now.

Splits: 5:06-5:15-5:21-38

Robert's Running Shop was one of the sponsors so that netted a nice comp entry and 1st Place Prize was Free Pair of Brooks Shoes! Doughnuts post race!

You're coming back nicely from that marathon!

Saw what Swisher said Bias and McCollum ran on that course, so definitely not a fast one. I'd say you're in a great position just 3 weeks removed from MB. Congrats on the win!

Never had a pair of brooks, wear a size 10! Missed you at the shop today but good to see Emily there. Just driving by when I saw the sign, so now I know where your located. Drop by some time and get fitted up with a new pair.
