Solid race, was a little bit worried how my leg would hold up especially since it was a cold rainy day and I would be chasing McCollam. I got out feeling pretty strong through the mile and was 1-2seconds back at the turn but he did what I haven't done in a 5K in a long time and he finished it off strong. I faded mostly over the last half mile. But to be in a low mileage and just tempo phase I'm pretty happy with this one still. McCollam has rolled out some nice track workouts so my hope is to gain back some time in the series in the 8K and 10K. He is usually faster then me consistently in shorter events but I still got to hope to regain some fitness and make a run at repeating in the series. With him running in it things got exciting.

I finished 2012 with one of my slowest years for running 5Ks, I know I don't train specific for the event but I still would have liked to been closer to my 3 top times from 2011 of 15:27 and 15:29(twice).

Congrats to all that finished in the largest WS race ever, also Marian grabbed a nice win(18:11) coming off being sick early this week. I know she is upset with the time but overall I think she did very well for all she is doing currently work wise and lack of training wise.

Nice race in less than ideal conditions.

Thanks guys, and great job again to all 3 of you! It's going to be a great series!

My $.02 is that's a pretty good race based off what you've been doing. Shows the potential is there to go MUCH faster. Racing McCollam throughout the Winter Series will only motivate the both of you in training and in the races and therefore make you both better. Anyway, nice work, and keep rollin'!

Thanks for the great insight as always Steve!
