YMCA TM

Notes

Well that workout took me just about to the edge of my current fitness level. Any takers out there to run this workout, maybe a little faster? Back wall, all the way to the left side of the room. Don't forget the .5% incline. 3 minute rests in between 1000s.

L Train

I don't think I could. Nice job.

Scorps

Dude! Smoking.

Egad

C'mon...Mr. Modest. You just don't want to make me look bad.

L Train

Is that to Steve or me? I'm not surprised he's taken up smoking again.

If it was me, truth is, I don't know. What I do know is that I never have run anything close to 5x1000 at <6 pace. Those are long rests though so maybe it could be done. I've always understood long rests on intervals to be more speed oriented training than distance training so I've never done them. Then again, I'm probably misunderstanding since you are getting this stuff from Daniels?

Egad

Daniels sets his plan up in four 6-8 week phases and believes the speed should come early with the most taxing phase being 3. He has different plans based on your desired distance. This is the marathon. The goal is to increase V02 Max and certainly that could be done with shorter rests and more intervals but I'm guessing that'll come in another workout. Another time soon maybe I do miles and rest 4 or 5 minutes. Guess we will see if the plan works. 3:20 or bust.

L Train

You've done more reading on this stuff than me, and Daniels is one of the most if not the most respected guy out there. I've read Running Formula and my eyes kind of glaze over though. In any case, it was a great workout and has to be a good sign.

Greg C

How long were the rests? Nice work in any case.

Egad

3 min rests Greg, as prescribed.

L Train

Eric, the panel also would have accepted the response "WHY DON'T YOU LEARN TO READ, YOU F*CKING MORON". But, you know, you're answer was fine and very anti-Richard Sherman.

L Train

"your"

Mad-Mike

Stop sleeping late and get in on the early shift.

beaulieume

Correct me if I'm wrong. But didn't you say the Mid Winter Classic was not important to you and just going to be a tempo run ? I think that was yesterday. right ?

Sandbaggah.

Hell of a workout though. Nice job. I'm not up for the challenge.

L Train

I think by tempo run he just meant he was going to cruise the whole thing around 6:40 pace.

Greg C

Ha was that last sentence about the rests there in the notes the whole time? I totally did not see it.

Dave T.

EEEEGads! Nice run... I would have splattered in the back wall!

Egad

Ok I will let you off the hook Cremer. I modified the comments after you asked about the recoveries. Even with the slight incline, I am not too sure this happens outside however still nice to complete.

Greg C

So did you do it as .62 intervals? And did you do any strides during the warmup mile or just Kablam right from 9:02 down to 6:15? This whole workout is interesting to me. I haven't tried anything quite like it.

Mad-Mike

What did you have on your iPod? I need to get my act together.

Scorps

Sure. Let's all be nice to Eric now that he is fast again. All of you, except Tall Dave of course, were making fat jokes as of a month ago and now you are kissing his ass. I detect some fear base compliments. What is this...Facebook? Eric - don't be fooled by these twofaced bastards (except for Tall Dave of course. Thank God someone is classing up this joint).

gadman

wow. I have missed a lot here and my Egad stepping it up. This is making me homesick and I really like the photo of him. Whoever posted it, very classy!

gadman

5:56 ,where the heck did you come from?

Egad

Cremer, during the first mile I moved the speed up to 7.5, then back to 6.7 then to 8.5, back to 6.7 and right to 9.7 before moving on to 10.1 in subsequent intervals. Used the oval 400 meter counter on the TM and just did 2 1/2 laps each time. This is the longest workout thread ever and it's not even a race. At least 4 of you could top this today if you tried it guaranteed.

Egad

Well Steve if you can't run right now you can certainly commentate. You are a making up for it in trash taking. LMAO.
