Notes

Arrived in Newmarket early and got a close parking spot. The three of us were surprised at how cold the wind made it and struggled to determine what we should wear for attire. The gun went off and I tried to hold back on the first mile, knowing it was a fast start. Made it through 3 ahead of pace then hit the dirt for the next 3 miles. Rolling hills throughout. Glad to get back on the asphalt at 6 but greeted with a large hill. Then several hills, a couple large ones for the next 3 miles. Pretty much gave up on the idea of being close to 1:30 at this point. Then I entered the long, primarily flat straightaway towards the cul de sac and started to get into a groove. Entered the development at the turnaround spot and realized the last mile was 6:39! Suprised, so I decided I was going to keep going and not look at the watch for the final 5k. Back out the same way in and up the "mini heartbreak hill" as they call it, downhill for the last 2/10 to finish with a big kick. The last hill at the end was easier than last year but the run overall was actually harder. I sort of downplayed the hills in my mind. I am stoked about the result needless to say, A well-deserved beer right now.

BIG Congrats Egad !!!!

Way to kill it on a tough course.
