Good night. First started following some random girl who was hitting about 8mi pace. Just fun to chase someone and let them pace. I wasn't planning on this because yesterday was AHR.
But then I saw this big group of 20people followed by 30-40 people on the path. So I just joined them. I think it was their warmup . . . but it got a little hot at 7min pace. So I begged off a bit.
Then they stopped.
I asked around what the workout was. 3mi @ MP. Overhead some guys talking about 6:45, so I asked if they were the local Sub3 group. Apparently, aspirational. There was a 3:05, 3:03 and 3:00.45 guy. Two of them had just run a (one his first) marathon a month ago. Didn't know that was a thing -- I mean their trying to go Sub3 on Sunday at the Chicago marathon.
I could only hang for the first mile of three at 6:45. So it was more of a tempo run. But way more than I had planned.
Still, fun as hell.
