summer track 3k. Big field of about 15 runners. I started out in the back of the main chase pack, stuck with them through about the first mile, then moved ahead and caught two stragglers from the front. Overall pleased with the race. The splits I got were about 2:33, 5:03. 6:57 (2200 meters), 8:14, 9:27. If I got the 2600 split right that gives me a 73 second last quarter, which isn't too bad. I sprinted the last 50 pretty well but should have really started kicking with 200 to go. I also spent at least two turns in lane two, but I think it was worth it to keep myself moving through the pack. This one felt much better than the 5k and re-enforces my belief that things will go better if I concentrate on racing rather than times. Technically I think it's a PR. I've also decided I prefer the stiffness of spikes to the uber-flexibility of most racing flats.
