The last 4 miles were really tough. I managed to close in about 6:10 which means I averaged over 7 minute pace for miles 17, 18, and 19. After the race my thighs were quite chaffed, my left shoulder hurt, and eventually I became nauseous. I probably started pushing too early but I'm satisfied with the result. Almost certainly the toughest run I've had, mainly because I got that "I want to quit" feeling around mile 16, at which point I had 4 more miles to go! Two+ hours is a long time to race.
Oh yea, AND it was in trainers. Probably would have run about 1:50 in flats...
