Notes

- my slower splits seem to happen when I fell in with other runners, most of whom I eventually passed. makes me wonder what I could have done with a partner/group with a 3:15:00 pace goal.

- ditto on that porta pot stop. it was absolutely necessary, but it also cost me at least a minute, maybe more.

- most of my faster splits came on the downhill return segment, but i'm not sure the grade had much to do with that.

- starting at a conservative pace and then passing runners the entire race works well for me, but again, the downside is that I hang up against slower runners at times. If I'm running alone I need to be aware of this

- took gels at 15, 18, 21, 24 miles. I think they were all useful, but the first gel probably caused the porta pot stop.

- don't count on a "home stretch" mental boost. my brain doesn't seem to work that way. my last mile was also my fastest, but it was also the worst in terms of my mental state. i have never wanted to quit doing anything the way i wanted to quit running on mile 26.

- i need to try other gel brands, the stomach problems i had post race were a fucking nightmare.
