I've noticed the fatigue building up for a couple of weeks, but today I really hit a wall. Dead legs from the start, and an overall run down feeling. Running this on the herrick loop. seeing that hill eight times, didn't help, but it wasn't the reason either. Had to run back to the gym after six miles for a pit stop, and my stomach was an issue later in the run, too.

Thought I was going to bail for good at mile 16, but grabbed a few bites of an energy bar and got it together enough to finish 19 -- and a pretty decent pace at the end.

A few things happening today. I'm a little burned out mentally from the high mileage -- I almost always look forward to a run once I'm on the road, and that feeling never happened today. I might also have had some problems with what I ate the night before. And I'm definitely feeling the impact of a long cycle with more miles than I've ever run before.

Heading into a cutback week now, so I have plenty of options to adjust. Think I'll dial back to about 50 miles, try to keep my quality workouts, take a day off and aim to race on Saturday. If the weather gets in the way this week, I'll roll with it....that might give me another day off.

If it's enough to recharge, I'll try another set of 75+ mile weeks. If I go into next weekend still feeling fried, I'll know that it's time to dial back and get my shit together.
