Notes

I was not really knowing what to expect on this run, but it actually went much better than I thought it was going to. Set treadmill for 8 mi. and incline 1: 2 mi. progression warm up - 800 @ 9.52, 800 @ 9.37, 800 @ 9.23, 800 @ 9.09; 800 @ 7.31 with 400 recovery @ 9.52; 1200 @ 7.31 with 400 recovery @ 9.52 (stopped for 30 sec. for water); 1 mi. at 7.40 (there is no 7:45 setting just 7.40 or 7.50 - decided to go with 7.40) with 5 min. recovery @ 10.00; 1 mi. @ 7.40 (at this point there was 1.73 mi. left (not enough distance left to do an 800 recovery, 1200 @ 7.31 with 400 recovery, 800 @ 7:31 and recovery to 8 mi.) with an 800 recovery @ 9.52 but decided to stretch this recovery out by adding a progression from 1.23 mi left to go (.08 @ 9.52, .05 @ 9.32, .05 @ 9:23, .05 @ 9.09 ) and ran the last mi. @ 7.31.

I checked out my treadmill pace settings against the Treadmill Pace Conversion Chart and 7.31 (Pace x . 10ths per mi. vs. Pace x : min. per mi.) is 8.2 mi./hr. and on Conversion Chart this is a 7:19 min. pace per mi. So my actual running paces by 10ths / mi. on my treadmill are faster than the paces by min./mi. when compared with the Conversion Chart.

I don't know if this is making any sense to you, but I'm thinking of going through my pace settings from 10.00 to 6.00 converting them to MPH and writing them on the Pace Conversion Chart by the pace per mi. numbers so I can equate the pace x 10ths /mi. to pace x min/mi.

OK. Let me make sure I have this right? So when you are running 7:31 pace as written by me, you are actually usually 7.31 setting on your treadmill which is 7:19 pace? Not 7:31 pace as it would show on your Garmin? You have a MPH setting right? I can write intervals in MPH as well instead of pace as this may make it easier!! Example: 2X400@8.2mph. This was a great workout. 7:45 pace was a guide. The range was from 7:31-7:45 when you got to the 1600's.

Was the 7.40 you used for the 1600's not actually 7:40 pace but 7.4 setting? Just wanting to know in moving forward!! I should have you set your treadmill for one mile over if you are going to run by distance. The distance of the runs is purely just an estimate as to how many miles you would complete in the workout. Because pace can be very variable in recovery the extra mile would account for that. Some of the workouts that say 8 miles may take 8.5 miles to finish as written!!!

This is a really great workout. Took me a little bit to understand the second half of it but I'm gathering you ran the 1600 and then adapted the rest to instead of running a 1200 and an 800, you ran the remaining time as a progression ending with another 7:31 1600. This is super. Good job adapting!!!

Also, you just ran this whole workout in a total time averaging better than MP. Nice job:)
