Notes

Didn't feel too amazing the entire way of this race. Probably lots of reasons for that. I spent the majority of Friday and Saturday in the sun at a track meet not drinking that much water. Sunday we traveled to Boston and missed our flight. We ended up getting into town at 5:30 pm and rushing like crazy to get our bibs before 6 pm. Monday we got up early and my back was really tight and hurt to run. I think it was mostly stress related. Loosened up finally before the gun went off but I think I had a pretty draining weekend before we even left for Boston and the travel and anxiety of being late didn't help either.

DJ and I started at the very back of our coral and went out pretty slow because its a hilly course from 17-20 and it was about 70 degrees out. First miles we kept at 6:40-6:45 which is way slower then I race marathons at normally. I haven't run that pace since my first completed marathon where I ran 2:56. I honestly felt pretty bad the entire race for some reason. I tried taking water at every stop and even taking 2 at some of them. When the race was over I had salt all over my face and my normal extremely wet hat was dry.

Ran with DJ for 14 miles of this. Pulled away from him until 19.5 where he passed me back. My goal the last 7 miles was just not to walk. The fan support in Boston is awesome but the course is too hilly and the weather in April is too volatile. I will stick to marathons that are PR courses in times of year that are typically colder.
