counting this as my Sunday run since it started at midnight. I did this race last year in 16:30, but then I was training for the River to River relay and was actually in decent 5k shape. Alex and I started the race about 4 rows to the back to kind of let all the people who like to sprint out fast at the start get ahead of us. We were probably in around 15th place through the first half mile. We hit the mile in 5:41 with maybe another 2 or 3 guys ahead of us. I told Alex to go ahead and chase down the leader. I got myself into third and was plenty content where I was and just held my pace there. Felt good I can run 17:30 and have it feel like a tempo on marathon tired legs. The name I registered with was Turd Ferguson. For some reason when they announced the awards they said I won, and announced the winner as T Ferguson. Guess they didn't want to say Turd. Also, I forgot to put my age on the sign up sheet. I went back and said that I had forgot to put my age in and that my last name was Ferguson. The lady said, without looking at any of the sign up sheets, Turd. She clearly remembered who I was.
