Jenna Strong race. Finally a decent race, and by decent I mean just not like totally awful lol. Was a nice day, storms were inbound so it was cooler and overcast. The watch didn't do the miles quite right. First mile was 6:08, second one was low 6:20's, I don't remember what the third was, fourth one was probably shorter but not quite that slow. I'd imagine that it was low 6's. Actually felt pretty decent, much more controlled. I was settling in for the second mile and about to do the classic "slow way the hell down," but I realized it and got back into the racing mindset and tried to pass people. I was pretty much passing people the whole time, I don't know how many though. I didn't get passed until like the last 2 or 3 meters of the race, where two guys came out of nowhere from behind me and I didn't really have time to react. They beat me by less than a second. I kept saying to myself as the race went on and I tried to pass people "I'm better than them, I'm better than them, I'm better than them." I think it helped. The woods really slowed me down though, I just got stuck behind some people and I couldn't get around them, and the hills slowed me down. I kinda hurt my foot a bit because on one of the quick downhill-uphill parts where there were a bunch of roots I pushed down the hill fast and did like a fast break on some guy and jumped around but landed kinda hard on my foot. It hurt Saturday but doesn't hurt anymore. Overall happy with the race, hoping to maybe get back down to sub 30's like I was doing sophomore year.
