Wittenberg 8k. Nice day, pretty windy and a bit of the sun, but not bad. Ran in flats because of the foot--much better decision. Went out fast (but I think this is 10ish seconds fast, but idk) and then settled in with some guys pretty slowly, so slowly that I realized a bit in mile 2 that I had to drop them and speed up. Passed some guys and sort of ended up on own (I think, tbh it was kinda a blur), and around mile 3 I was sorta behind some Marieta guys going into the big loop. Worked up to them and passed them right before the little hill to demoralize them. It worked and they fell way off me. Then I kept working to try and catch up to Pat, but then I saw the big hill. It look pretty rough but I wasn't too scared. Didn't pass anyone by the turn around and I was kinda alone going up the hill, which actually not bad, and then coming around the turn by the construction or whatever place I passed some guy and an Oberlin guy. Coming out of the reservoir thing to the final loop the Oberlin guy passed me again but I passed him back for the final time shortly after. The final loop was pretty lonely except for a Denison guy who was vomiting and slowing down who I passed. That felt good, like revenge. I think the Oberlin guy was kinda close behind me but I didn't let him get closed, and tried to finish the race strong. It's my second slowest time but considering my foot and the almost complete lack of workouts I'm not mad about it. I also know that I played the race really conservatively. I can't wait to get some more workouts under my belt and get back up with the other guys.
