Notes
DES Plaines Ultra 50 Miler. Did first 26.5 miles at 6:53 avg, felt great and fueling was spotless. Legs started feeling a bit tight at 21. Stopped at drop bag turnaround, and legs would not go under 8min pace once I restarted. Left knee soon hurt bad, so about 33 miles I started mixing in walking to spare the knee real damage. Great learning experience, got a feel for the pacing and learned some fueling and hydration tricks. Confirmed that I HATE running with anything strapped to my waist. Hopefully I can actually train for this next year and come back for a solid sub six showing. Absolutely beautiful course this time of year.
