15 mile progression (7:50 -> 5:30 @ 10" cutdowns)
Since the place I was running at did not have mile markers and I did not have a GPS watch, I had to rely on others' gps watches to get these splits. Some splits are definitely not accurate, but the effort definitely felt right.
Met up with a big group at Branch Brook Park for the 15 mile progression. My last few workouts have not gone too well, so I wasn't going in this with really any confidence, but I decided to just feel it out one mile at a time.
First few miles felt fine as we started out slow and we were still in a massive pack. People started splitting up around the 5 mile mark, which is when we briefly grabbed some water and made bathroom breaks. Once we got to 10 miles, Miguel and I started to split off from the rest of the group since we were cutting down more than they were. I was really starting to feel fatigued around the 13th mile and was just struggling to keep up with him. I fell off the last mile, but he also finished much faster than the goal pace and he also started later, so he was much fresher than I was for the last mile.
The last mile took everything I had to not quit, but I managed to not only finish a tempo style workout this summer, but also finish at the assigned goal pace despite the very humid and hot conditions.
