8 mile progression run

Started out Willy, Josh, Ryan, and Jared. Breezed through the first 5, but it didn't really start hurting until mile 7. Legs felt deceivingly heavy, but I was able to respond to the changes of pace pretty well. Once we passed mile 7, Josh started to hammer the pace and I tried to follow, but at that point, my legs were absolutely dead and it felt like I was dragging more than I was speeding up. Also, I started to feel my chest tighten, which I expected. I tried to experiment different breathing patterns during that last mile to see if any of them helped lessen the pain. The exhaling and keeping my chest from moving kinda helped, and I was able to finish decently strong. That'll be something to keep note of. Also, my legs have been feeling super dead lately, and I felt a very brief but palpable shin splint, meaning that I either need more rest or I gotta get new shoes, most likely the latter.

This is going to sound weird, but I wanted to experience the same kind of chest tightness I had at Parkside, which was much worse than the one I had today. It was a lot more manageable and wasn't holding me back at all. The thing is the effort I put in the last 3 miles of this workout was similar to the effort I put in for Parkside for the first 2 miles or so. Meaning, I should have had the same kind of pain for this workout. At least this way, there would be some kind of consistency to why this is happening. Getting a pulmonary exam on Thursday, so we'll see how that goes.
