Notes

2k @ T w/ 90" R, 800m @ 3k w/ 2' R.

Decided I wanted to run a speedier workout, so I chose 800's @ 3k. Ramsey track had most of the snow cleared, although some of it still covered lanes 1 and 2 of the track. I thought it wouldn't hold me back and I could still run fine.

2k was fine, felt a little winded, but I felt like I could handle the workout. First 800 was a little slow, but at the same time it felt really hard. I didn't think too much of it and moved on to the second one. Started out a little more aggressively, but that heavily backfired and I died on the second lap. I extended the rest to 2:30 and tried to pace it better, but I still ended up dying on the second lap ...... again. After three failed attempts to hit the times I wanted (2:24), I decided to call it quits and scrap the workout since I wasn't getting any benefits from it.

I can think of a million ways why this workout went wrong, but at the end of the day it was a bad workout. I felt much more recovered than yesterday, so I thought I could run the workout today, but I think I didn't give myself not only enough recovery, but also preparation into it. I just feel like my legs can't handle the speed of a 2:24 800. The second lap of the 800's always kills me and it's disappointing that I can't overcome it.

It's only one bad workout though. I've had a string of successful workouts so far and one bad workout won't stop me. I will take the next two days easy and probably do some kind of threshold workout. Going to really prepare for the workout next week, which will be 3-4 x mile @ 5k.

"one bad workout won't stop me" is a great mindset
