2k @ T w/ 60" R, 5-6 x 1k @ 5k w/ 1:45 R (walking/jogging)
Due to unforeseen plans and circumstances, I will not be able to race this Saturday or the next month or so, so I decided I'm going to run a 5k workout rather than do a tuneup. Wasn't sure about whether I could run well with 1:30 rest, so I compromised with 105 since it was between 90 and 120.
Goal for 2k was 7:00. Started out way too slow for the first 400 and had make up a lot of time to stay on target. Got pretty winded afterwards, but recovered quickly. First k started off perfectly, although I had to rush a bit near the end to stay on target. Bear in mind that this was also in the dark, so essentially, this workout was more of a fartlek and I had to rely on my internal pacing abilities because my watch's backlight doesn't work anymore. i also made the rests either walking or jogging, no standing around. I got faster along the way, but I wanted to hold back since I wasn't getting anymore benefit from the workout by going faster.
Finished really strong and felt like I had at least 2 more in me, but I achieved my goals today. I plan on making this my bread and butter workout in a couple weeks to properly gauge my fitness before a 5k in April.
