Notes

7 mile SS

Pretty happy with this workout given how unprepared I came into it. Slept pretty late last night due to a project, so my legs weren't super fresh. The goal was to just get into a good rhythm early on and keep the effort consistent. Started off at a good effort since the wind was against us. After the third mile though, Josh and Frintner started taking the lead and this is really when the group started thinning out. Somerfield and Jared fell off, and William swallowed a bug so he decided to cough out his lungs for the rest of the workout. I still felt decent so I just moved up to the leading two and hang on. I tried to help take the lead at one point, but mentally, I was just off, so I ended up letting them lead the rest of the 4 miles. Overall, this was hard despite the pace not being too taxing. I was just mentally off, but I grinded through the whole thing and that's something to be happy with.

Pretty happy with how all my workouts have been lately. I feel like I've been pretty consistent with effort and that I never really dropped out early or fell too much apart near the end of workouts. However, it sometimes doesn't show in races because I feel like sometimes my races don't reflect my efforts in workouts. I think that's just really a mental thing and learning to trust my training. I've been told that at the beginning of the season and now I really need to start doing that. I think I'm just at the point of everything coming together and I'm starting to really reach peak form. I never really know that feeling though until I'm racing though. I haven't really felt peak form in a cross country season since junior year of high school, so it would be nice to reach that point again. Just gotta keep doing what I've been doing all season and make sure I use my inhaler before workouts/races.
