Notes
Great race to cap off the indoor season. Went in with the determination to win the heat, no matter the pain. Started off in the middle of the pack, right behind Frintner and Morrissey. After 600 meters, I made a big move to about 5th or 6th place in the heat and stayed there for a little while. Made another move at the mile mark to move myself up to third place. Passed this Northwestern guy with a rocking mullet and wasn't too far off from the first guy. However, I convinced myself not to move up too quickly with 6 laps still left. This was a bad decision because I was running with no one for a good two laps until mullet man caught up to me and I just used him to help lead me through the rest of the race. Didn't have much of a kick as well, kinda lost focus there. Still got third overall for the heat, and got a 22 second PR in the 3k, so I ended up getting more out of this race than I lost. I probably should have moved to first place when I still had the chance and energy to instead of waiting too long. That's just something I'll have to take note of next time. Definitely seeing sub 9 in the future and definitely seeing myself as a big scorer next year as long as I keep putting in good work and not slack off, not that I have been.
