Another chilly run. Group started off pretty fast and I wasn't feeling it at all after running recklessly fast yesterday, so I let them go. Caught up to them right before the shorter CCC loop and ended up running with them for the rest of it. Extended with Zach, Quinn, and Feldman. Finished a lot less cold than Tuesday, so my fingers weren't freezing when I got back. Had a solid core session as well, always a good feeling with that. From seeing everyone else's logs, they are talking about upcoming goals for the season, so I feel like I want to share mine as well for anyone who's interested.

The problem I've had with setting up time goals for the next season is that during races, I can tell the pace I'm running based on the clock, and if I see that I'm ahead, it gives me confidence, but at the same time, if otherwise, I feel very defeated. This mentality has prevented me from running every race as well as I want to and it made me more concerned about time than competition. So, I decided that I'm going to focus on more conceptual goals. They are: being more confident in races, not worrying about splits, putting full effort into races, do better core (this is already going well so far, so that's a good start), and learn to not panic when something is misaligned during a race (getting tired early on, starting a race too fast). I believe that if I run competitively(somewhat vague), a fast time may naturally come with that. Even if I don't necessarily PR or run a shitty race, as long as I continually put a hard effort into my races, it will be a habit that will transfer over to races that happen to work in my favor. This is just an experiment and we'll see how well this will work.

But just to keep it in the back of my mind, sub 8:50 for 3k and sub 15:20 for 5k

I think those are great goals: the intangibles are key too.
