long run with ephraim, jeff, wolfgang, reno, helen, picklesimer, spinney, sean, and chris. from ephraim's house to the finish line and back. split up and went with jeff, picklesimer, sean, and chris on the way out. quickly brought the pace under 7 and then down to 6:20 for a couple miles after heartbreak. we decided to slow down to be sure we could hit some MP miles on the way back. Sean and Chris wanted to do 6ish, i figured i'd just see how i felt and try to go with them for a few.
the wind was angry today, and our tempo into the wind was tough. The first 3 miles or so were also uphill, which resulted in ~6:15 miles at a ~5:30 effort. I managed to get through 4 at that pace, and then quit and started to jog in. did a half mile at 7:30 (uphill) and realized they weren't too far ahead of me and i felt ok, so surged back to catch them over the next half mile (5:30, downhill). Tired, but the pace felt comfortable for the last couple miles. Ended up with 6 at about 6:15 for the tempo. A cooldown and a couple strides after.
During the tempo into the wind my eyes froze and i couldn't see clearly. that was a first.
