this was embarrassing. at the start i got elbowed/boxed out by a child and a small girl, and was in 6th or something around the first curve. started pretty slow, and legs were immediately feeling heavy and stiff. split about 63 for the first lap, and basically gave up, not feeling too good. legs never felt lactic acid or tie-up like they did in the one of these that i did indoors. i halfheartedly strided the last 100 just enough to pass a couple children. Brian won in 2:05.

however, i'm optimistic and think i can do a lot better, this was just a bit of a disaster.

plans for next time:

-train. get comfortable with the pace, I felt like I had a tempo run mentality, and was scared of a fast pace.

-warm up more. like a 5 mile easy warm up. legs didn't feel ready at all, had no turnover.

-start fast. i think starting slow make me think slow, and there isn't time for that on the track. i need to start at an uncomfortable pace or i won't be able to push myself to an uncomfortable pace later in the race. i want to lead the race next time.
