Yes, mike, tim, emilio, and myself ran a race at bode lake, because that is what it is called when you average 5:21 for 9 miles... 2 weeks ago I ran the nastiest run ever on Hoffman Estates soil... Today, mike and I topped that by a minute... Splits are as follows... 5:32, I got out hard b/c I have a big ego... 5:25, thats right, I always negative split... 5:34, EXCEPT when there are hills, then I don't... 5:16, saw the terror in Mike's eyes when he realized I would not back down... 5:21, I backed down... 4:45, the .9 part, which is a 5:17, which is good... 5:19, I was beginning to think Mike was breaking... 5:20, i was beginning to think I was breaking... 5:03, Mike leans over to me and says " man we are flying." i say, " I guess for you this is probably a good run." He says, " I don't have a kick so please don't drop me." I then think back to what a wise bearded man once told me, " if some one tells you they are tired, drop them." I looked over a mike, ready to break his heart, but he looked so happy with the performance thus far, so I decided I would show mercy and let him have the privilege of finishing a run with me... if I could do it over again I would have dropped him though... btw tim and emilio ran very well...
