Notes

Glad I drove the 40 miles and checked out Torreya State Park (re: my upcoming 25K), because I discovered that the difficulty of its trails compared to my local ones would be considered "extreme". There's just no way to run this at an "easy" pace - even power walking it would take a strong effort. It was a killer - had to walk maybe 1/3 of the trail, took a total of at least 10 minutes worth of stationary resting, lots of very steep but short sections, a good number of long uphill sections, very few level areas, LOTS of roots, a few muddy places, etc.! I did my best to provide an accurate "guesstimate" of the time/distance/pace by consulting the park map - I think it's fairly close. The winner and lead runners of the race each year run it at about 11:00-12:00 minute pace - so yeah, it's tough (pretty surprising for being in Florida). I need to run this a few more times to train for the race or I'll have "bitten off more than I can chew".
