SPAC 8K- 16th in 26:38.5, 2nd place team finish
Not exactly happy with this but not disappointed either. Overall it was a smarter race than Vassar's 6K, but not as brave/bold. Went out relatively conservative with a bit of a gap between me and our big pack of men (including Vassar and others). Gradually picked off the people who fell off that pack. Worked together well with Steven (before his big finish) and Pat and Mitchell. Felt more relaxed throughout the race than last time but couldn't quite switch gears for a quick last 3k. Felt strong going into the final woods, tired the final straight but good enough for a solid kick.
I think the problem is that I wasn't racing to my strengths. I'm not really a big "come up from far back" racer; my best races are ones where I put myself out there at the start, stay relaxed but focused in the middle, and finish strong. I plan to keep this in mind next week and place myself in a pack of our guys earlier in the race
