3:58.08 // 3rd in heat, 41st OA
Splits: 48.4, 63.9, 64.6, 61.2
Last one — best one. Knew I had the sub-4 in me, just needed to be in the right race. Made moves every lap which made me nervous but I wanted to trust every instinct I had. Passed a bunch of people on the backstretch of the last lap to bring it home in style.
Some of you know this, but I went through a hard time over the winter dealing with my worst Crohn’s disease flare-up since high school. It came at a time when running was finally going really well for me, and I had to bring everything to a halt. I was honestly pretty distraught at the possibility that everything I worked so hard for would be for nothing (again).
Thankfully, I was able to persevere and piece together a somewhat successful final season. I’m proud of what I was able to accomplish in the 1500 this year; and I don’t think many people could have been in my position and had their best season yet just a couple months later. I’m very thankful for Lynch, the coaching staff, and my teammates for believing in me and giving me the environment to succeed. Also thankful for my friends and family back home for always having my back. There’s still a lot I want to accomplish so I don’t think I’ll be retiring anytime soon. Roll tech 🤘
