This race goes right by my mother in law's house at the cape so finally decided to give it a try. Really windy morning, steady wind of 20 mph with some gusts. Not ideal and concerned this would have an impact but in reality the only terrible wind was in the last 100 meters of the race, otherwise a non-factor. Race started with the usual kids making an early spring and after the first 50 yards, I settled into the front and never saw another runner after that. The race was comfortable and in control the entire way, never really struggling or overreaching. Pretty consistent pacing throughout which I was happy about looking back. Official clock had me at 15:53, a PR. Second place was about 2 minutes back, making for a lonely race. It isn't a certified course so who knows if the distance is 100% accurate but it would be close in my guess.
