Looking forward to getting in some low key group trail runs this fall. Kicked it off this week with Sean and Longo in Needham, with a 13+ mile loop on the Cutler Park Blue Heron trail. I've only done about half the loop previously, usually a one way trek from Cutler Park down to Great Plain ave. The second half of the loop was a learning experience for us all, trying to find the blue arrows leading us on the right trail. The first part is entirely in the woods on a combination of wide, single track, and boardwalks. The second part has a mix of wide and single tracks, but also a few segments on sidewalks and parking lots, which is where some of the confusion comes into play. We found our way back without too much issue, only a few minor add-ons as a result of backtracking, probably only added between 3/4 - 1 mile extra is my guess. No coyotes but we did see 3 deer (2 fawn and a doe) and a turkey family (2 adults and at least 6-8 kids).
Felt good to be out running with everyone, I think this was my longest run since May. I still have some ground to make up as Sean and Longo dropped me pretty easily on the last hill, but I don't think i'm too far off.
