Hills kill... Wore the clunkers. Tough trail run, most on single track and hilly (2780 feet of climbs). Handicapped starts, so not as clear who *really* beat me - only 4 guys from my wave were ahead. Went out pretty good with the front guys on the dirt road to the trail entrace (6:30 first mile), but lost them very quickly when we hit the up hill tail and I started speed hiking a bit as I couldn't keep running (13:50 second mile - ~1000 feet)... Opened up pretty decent at the top for the level / slightly downhill section (~4 miles). Legs were starting to get rubbery towards the end, stopped competeing after 8 walking the uphills and focused on not tripping on roots, especially on the long last downhill next to the revine. Gu around 8 miles, carried camel pack but ran out of water for the last 3 miles. Finished pretty decent, besides tired legs everything else felt fine (others throwing up...) 81, DP 70.
