race wasn't too bad for a debut! went around 16:22 through 5k, came back in 16:19 for a pretty even split. definitely could have had a nice negative split if i would have raced people late. i did alright at finding the pace and clicking them off for the first few k, but i really let the race get away from me during the second half. 2nd, 3rd, and 5th place in the heat were all within one second of me through 4 miles and they all broke 32 just by racing each other across those last 9 laps. overall very happy with it but i know just by getting more experience with the distance the time can be so much faster, all i need to do is pay attention to the races happening around me and i am capable of matching moves and making that last 3-4k hurt a lot more instead of falling asleep.
