I planned on doing a tempo run at tempo pace for 4 miles. After the 3rd mile though I slowed down. I was having a hard time holding the pace and I noticed my HR was at max. With the heat outside I didn't think it was wise to run at that pace anymore. The 500ml bottle of watered down gatoraid that I had with me was very warm by this time also. I slowed the pace by well over a minute and my HR still never dropped so I slowed it even more for the last mile and it did drop a bit, but just to 177. I decided to walk the hill near the end (at 5.55 mile) and my HR went back over 180. I finished with a really slow run until I hit 6 miles, then I stopped the GPS and walked the last little 1/4 to 1/2 mile home.
