Went a little too fast. 3 mile warm up (24 minutes) - MAIN SET - Five miles at goal half marathon pace (6:05-6:10). Got right into it ...

One mile cool down (8 minutes).
30:05 for the entire 5 miles (6:01 average). There was a small hill and a slight head wind (3-5 mph) during miles 2 and 4. That accounts for the variation, since my HR climbed steadily throughout. The last open half marathon I did my average HR was 174.
I found it sort of hard to gauge my exact pace on the open road. Some miles were spot on, others were too fast. After the first mile I thought I'd blown the workout, but I managed to maintain the pace.
