Went in very low on glycogen with a goal of keeping effort low enough to fuel as I went along. I was sweating at way to high of a rate and not only was dehydrated, but glyced out with 4 miles to go. Last 2 miles were a struggle with run / walk (Lots of walk). It was humid and 75F at the finish.
Overall a great training day. I can put my finger on when I should have recognized the near depletion and could have slowed the tempo down. Also as soon as I put a hat on for sun block, my ability to dissipate heat went away ~ So I will have to solve that for the 24 hour.
It has been 3 1/2 years since running a 24 hour race and I am happy for days like this to remember old lessons. I am starting to get a feel of what too fast a pace is again.
