Notes

I was going to try for 5:40s but out there alone the first lap was 3:37 but then I brought it down to 3:34-35 for each .6 mile loop. I was breathing pretty hard and working plenty hard to get meager 6 minute miles. "Nothing comes easy" yeah between the two inch deep puddles and wind this wasn't an acurate description of my fitness. But mentally I was getting faster as the laps went past and that is a good description of my mental state (hopefully). The Olympic marathon trials were amazing!! We saw them pass 6-7 times I think and I am so happy for Ryan Hall, Dathan Ritzenhein, and Brain Sell as well as Kahlid, Nate Jenkins (7th!), Mike morgan, Steve Sundell and Jason Lymuke or however you spell it. We saw Ryan Shay when he was on the gound before the paramedics got there. I didn't realize at the time they were doing CPR. I thought about him and his family most of the way home. It's so sad he got married this summer and I believe settled into flagstaff I thought things were really going well for him. I really hope they find out why he died because for an elite athlete with a half dozen marathons under his belt to pass out at mile 5.5 on a slow (5:20s) start is very odd. May God be with his family and friends.
