Wow! What a great run! Far better than I expected. Three weeks post 24 hour race, I throw this down? I was expecting to struggle to get under 2:20, but that didn't happen. The first two miles were in like 6:35, 6:40 and I managed to slow down, hit 10 miles at 6:50 pace. But then heading downhill turning around, the pace picked up slightly. Suddenly I came through the half marathon just over 1:29. Then I started thinking about doing some pace variation, but it's always hard to know exactly how one will feel after 15 or 17 miles into a run, especially recovering from a big event. Well, that 5:52 was certainly not as easy as 5:52 is often for me, but wow, I will take it! If I repeat this workout in five weeks, might not be so pleased, but today, it's great! Plus, I recovered super well with an Alt bar, Gatorade and Heed. Don't get me wrong, I'm pretty tired from it, my Sunday run was not great, but I did it, a mere 20 days after I was not able to walk, I did 20 miles in 2:14.
