well, here is my original blog post: http://www.isaiahjanzen.com/2011/05/im-235-marathoner.html

however, Greenbay made us run an extra 800 feet in the fourth mile so they took 53 seconds off of my time with the conversion and now I'm a 2:34:22 marathoner who happened to debut in a race that took 2:35:15 to run. Ok, this is just plain frustrating. I came across "5" miles at 29:22 thinking I was slow. If you take away the 53 seconds that's 28:29. I was ahead of pace! Instead of my dropping a 55:52 from mile 5 to 15 I would have relaxed more and ran slower instead of trying to make up time. I might have ended up running slower because that wind was just brutal, and it really threw everything to crazy. I mean look at how I "rallied" running 5:59s near the end of the race.

I'm happy to be a marathoner now. I'm happy to get it out of the way, and I know that my training could have been better. I probably could have picked a better race as well. Things I desire in the future from a marathon, spectators in the last half, accurate mile markers, more competition in my pace range. the temperature and the flattness of the course was great, but the rest was not the best. good day, good race, I am thankful that I was able to at least throw down a 2:34, that's better than 2:44 or 2:54 or 3 anything. All of this running is a gift. If I got what I deserved, I would be hit by a car and never run again. I feel more complete as a runner now. Just 15:25 left to take off to get the olympic trials standard! That's manageable. I mean I PR'd by 23:30 from previous 26.2 runs in practice. Just a few more years of hard work.
