This is the best work I have ever done. 5k of work in 16:01 and 6k of "recovery" in 21:55 I ran this workout last year about this time and did only 7k, with a slower average. I'm in good shape, the best I have been in yet. However, to get to where I want to I need to have "the best workout of my life" another 10-20 times and do stuff like this routinely. After 8k and seeing that I passed that a little after 27 I knew it was a really good workout. I have not run low 27s for an 8k in practice, mid to high 27s maybe and 28s frequently. Then the last hard k I imagined it was Augie in two weeks. I imagined a bunch of college kids lined up ahead of me and trying to catch them. 'Two laps to go... 600 to go... bell lap, hit it hard! Work! Come on! No regrets! Everything you've got! 200 to go! Final straitaway! And the finish! Okay 1k to go, let's make this more respectable than that 3:54...'
