Run down to Lake Michigan. Bonked after only about 12 miles. Average at 8.5 miles was 6:55 at 12.5 miles 7:00, 13.5 7:01 and it went downhill from there (figuratively of course I was actually running uphill) and I bonked. The weather was beautiful, sunny and no wind. I was working fairly hard at the start, but so often I fall into a groove and then the pace takes care of itself. Well, the last few miles were not pretty at all. I really didn't want to have any long runs over 7 minute pace but I had no food before I started and I ran out of glycogen. I was doing a lot of focusing on my form the last few miles. It is well known that form drastically deteriorates after bonking, so good thing to work on. That's about itI fell apart the last few miles. In two days I will forget this run and put it out of my mind but in five years I will come back to this buildup and read these workouts and try to remember the suffering that I felt. The day after a 60 mile bicycle ride and 12 miles run running 7 day total well above 100 miles now. Exhausted, tired, bonked... satisfied.
