Notes

just an amazing tempo. I was planning on 6-10k of tempo work, and I just felt early in the day that 8k was the right nummber for me. I might have pushed the pace too hard, but I don't think so. I think I rode the LT just right. I mean within five seconds of starting my 200m kick my legs filled with lactic acid, that means to me that I was already dealing with a significant amount of it in my legs. hopefully around the 4mmol range. I wanted the pace in this tempo to be slightly faster than my half marathon for two reasons, 1. it's a track and thats probably a few seconds faster than slightly hilly roads and trails. 2. i feel after my half i have a slightly higher fitness and thus should adjust my paces perhaps 1-2 seconds faster than before. I feel this workout was more legit than the 8k tempo I did in the petit this winter. I feel that the circulating air currents make that place artificially fast because everyone is going in the same direction. it's funny to throw this down in a workout when in the fall of 2007 I set my open 8k pr of 27:34. I've come a decent way since then. a really nice workout. next on my plate is the 27+ mile run. sometime this weekend.
