Not at all the workout I was hoping for. Well, okay mostly I suppose it was, but not what it could have been. The plan was 20 miles at 7 minute pace then 10k at 5:40 pace. Well the 20 miles went a little better than expected, I was at 6:50 pace like 6-7 miles into it, trying to slow down. Finally, managed to slow down a few seconds hitting 13.11 at 1:30:40. Then turned around and came back. I'll tell you what, 13 miles one way, turn around, 13 miles back, is a little lacking for scenery. Three hours is a lot of running. Longest run of the build up. Anyway, got to 20 miles and turned on the gas to step the pace up, and I didn't really step it up. I mean I was hitting 6:00-6:05 consistently, but I wanted to be hitting a lot faster. It's disappointing, but I did not feel like I could go any faster. However, I didn't really feel "that" tired so while I considered pulling the plug and calling it a day, I just kept going because despite being 25s/mi slow, it's really great lipid aerobic training. I'll take it. Who runs a 2:55 marathon for training? This guy.
