Balls out tempo run with Oscar. On grass the whole way even though it was quite soft underfoot from all the rain yesterday. Started off too fast and after about 1 mile my average speed was 6.23 - this was unsustainable really, it probably should have been 20 - 25 seconds slower. After that it was a matter of trying to steady the speed and hold on. I was under pressure at various points and was tempted to do a shorter tempo but kept plugging away and tried to keep the average speed from dropping too much. Battled well through the last lap but the starting off too fast really killed me. Delighted with average speed on soft grass but the average HR showed just how hard it was, it was more like a race than a tempo run. Oscar will lead the next one out for the first mile to ensure we get good negative splits. Definitely think there is a sub 40 mins 10km in my legs if I get a good day and good conditions
