It was "Predict Your Time" tonight at GT5K, which meant no Casio calculator watches or Garmins or Rolexes (Fil). My goal was to just sniff Titus' undies for as long as possible. Pace was a little slow going out through Mile 1, which I much appreciated after JJ10K. Was in 5th through Mile 1. Managed to pick up 3 positions a little before Mile 2 and hung in there for first loser status. 10 seconds behind Titus so he picked up a few more points on me this week. Much faster than I had predicted before the race (17:17), and only 6 seconds from my 5K PR ("shortened course"). Felt comfortable through most of it. A little muggy and headwind on the Riverwalk and bridges. I need to find a vacuum to run in.
Doesn't look like Medical Center 6K is going to happen for me next Sunday :( so I should be fresh to break 17 next Tuesday.
Really great to see the NH contingent tonight (Joe M, Dana B, newcomer Sam, Jimmie C III). Another large crowd tonight with another fun after party. Thanks EJ for the PBR that Fetsus tried to steal! Always good to see Bash, Fil, Zona, Carla, Jess, Glenn, Linda, Karen, Kara, Frank, James (and his lovely fiancee), Ed, Tom, Joseph, Ally, Liane, Keith, Kevin, Sean, Mark, Dave, and a few others that I missed.
Looking forward to Finger Lakes 50 miler in July.
