Notes

Mi = 41 + 6 =47. This was another very disappointing race but what can I expect carrying 10 extra pounds. I just never felt real comforatable and the hills just simply wore me down by mile 7 or 8 and I ended up walking several hills for the last few miles just to finish. Hopefully, I can shed some this by fall.

I was wondering how your training was going this year. It is tough carrying that extra weight. Some days you just can't put it all together. It is extra tough when carrying that extra winter weight. That Tennessee summer humidity and the misery index will be here before you know it and you'llshed those pounds in a hurry. My training is just so so, but the encouraging thing is that for the most part its been an inury free year. I just keep losing a fw seconds per mile as I mature with age.

Thanks for asking. So I had gained about 7 pounds over the last year and I had blamed my struggles and slowdowns on the weight. Well, that was probably part of it but I have a blood clot in each lung (Pulmonary Embolism). So part of my struggles over the last few months was probably due to that because you do not get as much oxygen with clots. Anyways, I had severe pain in my chest and went to the emergency room and was admitted to the hospital but I am out now. I am taking blood thinners.

I am recovering well but I’m on my 10th day of not running or doing any kind of exercise. Needless to say, that is tough mentally especially having to adjust my diet so drastically. I did walk 3 miles yesterday and it went fairly well but I did notice getting out of breath quickly and it made me really tired afterwards. I go back to the doctor this afternoon.

That is great news that you are staying injury free. I know, that is tough for us to accept as we get older that we will slow but we should just be thankful every time we can get out there and run!
