Notes

Thinking about 1200 "intervals" so I went out and tried some. Did 6 sets of 1200s with a 400 jog between. Intended to run them around 5 minutes as would be prescribed by the McMillan calculator based upon my target marathon pace. I ran each according to feel not looking at the garmin or lap splits. They came out faster than expected but I didn't feel as if I went too fast. 5 minutes would have felt too easy. Punching in my last 5K time reveals I was exactly in my target range which makes it understandable why 5 minutes wouldn't have been fast enough. I'm happy with my consistency considering I was going by feel. I nailed the 3rd, 4th, and 5th all within a second of each other. 4.21, 4.24, 4.35, 4.34, 4.35, 4.26.

Garmin's paces are off. I ran this on a track so the splits are accurate for 1200 meters. A 4.34 1200 is 6.07 pace, not 6.29 garmin pace. The 4.21 was at 5:50 pace, not 6.03.

1200s seemed much easier to handle than 1600s. Hopefully, since it is easy to do more and I can run strongly throughout they are more quality quality too.

Interestingly, if I added the time and distance up for my intervals and recoveries I just ran a 43ish minute 10K. Last week's tempo 10K, also on the track, at about the exact same time was harder. Not sure what to make of this.
