Notes

Heading in goals were to run a smart sub 3:10 with neg split.

Running 7:11s was very comfortable initially. Around 5.5 I got a foot cramp. WTF? I know I run through them in about 5 minutes so stopped and loosened my shoe then got going again and it was sorted by mile 6. All good.

Round about mile 7 I got a side stitch. WTF? I figured I'd plow through and hope it passed. It never did, only just churned better and worse.

Meanwhile porta-john stops at miles 6 and 10.

By 13 was feeling rough and took a seat in the porte-john. That helped. Lost about 90 seconds there.

Came out and saw EJ. Ran with him for about 3 miles. He went ahead a little when I was supposed to go ahead.

Oddly I was able to still keep running well enough in the mid 7s.

With about 10 miles to go I realized I wasn't going to get my time goal and didn't think I was up to challenging the last bit of the race so just ran up the newton hills at about 8+ pace and down or flat closer to 7:10-20. Wind was also picking up directly into my face. That worked fine and set me up to comfortably cruise through Brookline 7:35-45 knowing I would comfortably run a BQ even if I dropped under 8 pace. It's nice not to be suffering through Brookline!

Full sun day. Temps in the 50s but comfortable. Not cold, not hot, just kinda warm. Calm at start wind in face at finish. My gear was completely dry at the finish with tons of salt streaking.

Not my day but experience for the win!

Beat my bib by 3696 places and finished OK in my AG 868/2295.
