Tough race. Don't feel like I crushed it yet I know I ran pretty good. Each mile was 10 seconds faster. Traction was a big issue. I know the conditions stole at least 15-20 seconds per mile compared to last year's conditions. On the last hill I could hardly climb up. I had to delicately straddle the side and go off course taking a shallow angle. I wore the wrong shoes. Figured the trail shoes were a half size too small with my thick socks and I'd kill my toes with the downhills so I went with my road racing shoes. In retrospect that was a bad idea. I slipped and sided my way around and almost went down twice. I also wore a ton of clothes since it was probably under 20.
In the end missed a couple of my personal goals but raced hard and never wimped out and gave in.
After a couple days it's settled in that this was a good one. Comparing with last year's race this one was more competitive but I got closer to some ahead and put some others further behind than last year. Compared to this distance on the road I'm probably more competitive.
