Ugh. So disgusted by the events of the day.
As for me, GI issues set in around mile 11. Stopped for a huge dump at 25K med tent. Dehydration due to GI issues and inability to take fluids/gu set in around mile 20. From there on it was just survival. Couldn't push anymore. Had an overwhelming urge to vomit for last two miles. Spent next 2.5 hours in bed nursing gatorade. Should have taken an IV but in hindsight I'm glad I wasn't in the medical tent when the resources were needed and I might have been in the way.
Legs feel surprisingly good. Proof that my slower than hoped time was less to do with training than due to unfortunate GI distress. Lot's of what ifs... Running 6:50s was easy, the GI issue and it's ripple effects weren't.
Tried for sub 3, not knowing if it was possible. Felt confident about a PR. That wasn't in the cards. Turns out I hit my "d" goal ... BQ minus 5. That's punched my ticket for another year so time to run some 5Ks and halfs.
