Notes

I love Baystate. Such a great marathon!

Been struggling with a hip problem since late May and the insane summer of mileage caught up with me in September. It is what it is... I had to make the decision between not getting to the start line or getting to the start line in less than ideal shape since I didn't run enough for the last month plus... I opened for the latter.

Followed the 3:15 group but my hip hurt the entire way. The pain was real and by mile 21 I was getting nauseous and lightheaded from the pain. So strange. I did the math and recalculate for sub 3:20 and immediately adjusted. It was still tough and I was a wreck after the finish. Was 70 and sunny at the end. That didn't help. I've never had so many people come up to me and make sure I was OK. An EMT offered me a wheelchair. I declined and sorted it out myself. After about 60 oz of fluid and some good food I was sorta ok.

Not sure I could have done much better today. Got a BQ -6:05 for 2019 so that's pretty much a lock if I don't improve it at Boston next Spring.

Need to work on core, heal, and reboot. I've got all the time in the world for that so that's what I'm gonna do.

Did I mention that I love Baystate. Best course of all the marathons I've run. Was such a relief to know from mile 20 that it was a smooth run in to the finish.
